William Beebe (1877-1962) was an American naturalist, ornithologist, marine biologist, entomologist and explorer. He successfully combined scientific writing for technical journals with popular articles and books.

An account of an expedition aboard the yacht, Zaca, which emphasises Beebe’s concern for threatened habitats and his dismay at human destruction.
