Engraving of SS Utopia/HMS Anson collision at Gibraltar
On 17 March 1801, SS Utopia, a transatlantic passenger liner collided with a moored battleship HMS Anson in the Bay of Gibraltar. The vessel sank within 20 minutes with a loss of 562 passengers and crew.
