Le Petit Journal, 25 November 1893 (Illustrated supplement)

On 3 November 1893, two explosions went off on board a ship named Cabo Machichaco in the port of Santander.
60 buildings were completely destroyed and 86 damaged; debris was flung as far as 6km away; 600 people died and 2,000 were injured. Le Petit Journal recorded the event in it’s supplement dated Saturday 25 November 1893.
The back cover of the Journal has a full page illustration of the divers recovering bodies from the seabed.
