The Coast of Coral, by Arthur C Clarke

The Coast of Coral
Arthur C Clarke

After developing an interest in scuba-diving, Clarke moved to Sri Lanka in 1956. The Coast of Coral is Clarke’s first work on the subject and explores the wide variety of species within The Great Barrier Reef. Many of the photographs were taken by Clarke’s friend Mike Wilson who was an underwater photographer and pearl-diver. This book recounts the adventures above and below water of the two men during a prolonged visit to the Great Barrier Reef. The life of the Torres Straits pearl divers is also described.
