The author, Trevor Hampton, was the Chief Instructor of the British Underwater Centre, one of the first diving clubs that was established in the UK It pre-dated the British Sub Aqua Club. His pupils qualified as ‘Menfish’,  ‘Mermaids’ or ‘Tadpoles’.
