The Naked Warriors, by Francis D Fane

The Naked Warriors
Commander Francis Douglas Fane USNR

A legendary commander of the U.S. Navy’s Underwater Demolition Team reveals the world of these brave swimmers, who knocked out mines, mapped enemy beaches, and paved the way for Allied naval assaults, and who evolved into the Navy SEALs.
Francis Douglas Fane navigated an ammunition ship in the Pacific during World War II prior to his assignment to the Underwater Demolition teams. While in command of UDT-1 from 1945 to 1958, he set the world deep-work-diving record of 250 feet. He retired from the Navy in 1960.
