Hans Hass, Austrian marine-biologist and diving pioneer, was known mainly for being among the first scientists to popularise coral reefs, stingrays and sharks. He pioneered the making of documentaries filmed underwater and assisted in the development of an underwater camera and a type of rebreather. He wrote 25 books and received dozens of international awards.
Hardback with no dust jacket in protective cellophane cover. Cover debossed with an illustration of a shark in gold foil. Fair/worn condition. Small spotted marks to cover boards. Long vertical marks of gum residue? on front and back endpapers and adjacent page. Mottling to outside edges of pages. Inside pages in otherwise good condition. Small tear on page 127 (repaired). Small Foyles Bookshop sticker and John Bevan bookplate on inside front cover.
Black and white photographs and illustrations throughout.
