Le Petit Journal (1905) – Catastrophe de Farfadet (Antique print/publication)
Le Petit Journal, 23 July 1905 (Illustrated supplement)
On 6 July 1905, during a routine patrol en route from Sidi Abdallah to Bizerte in Tunisia, the French submarine Farfadet sank suddenly. A rescue attempt failed; 14 men died and only two survived. A week later Farfadet was raised. It was restored and recommissioned 3 years later under the name Follet. The front cover of the Journal has a full page illustration of divers on the seabed working to refloat the submarine. (Popular French games on the back cover)
