Hans Hass, Austrian biologist and diving  pioneer, was known mainly for being among the first scientists to popularise coral reefs, stingrays and sharks. He pioneered the making of documentaries filmed underwater and assisted in the development of an underwater camera and a type of rebreather. He wrote 25 books and received dozens of awards. Under the Red Sea describes Hass’ trip down the Red sea stopping at obscure places recording it on film with the underwater cameras he devised. It inspired a generation of people to take up diving as a sport.

Hardback without dust jacket. Dark blue cloth cover rubbed at the edges and marked all over. Spine faded. First and last few pages heavily foxed as are outside edges of the pages.Fair condition.
